Learn how to make a real Minecraft cake at home with this simple and tasty recipe. This is a 2-layer chocolate cake, perfect for any Minecraft fan. It’s fun to bake, easy to decorate, and looks just like the cake block in the Minecraft game!
Beat sugar and butter until light and fluffy (about 4 mins).
Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla.
Add flour and milk slowly, mixing gently in between.
Divide batter into both pans.
Step 3: Bake the Cake
Bake for 30–40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Let cakes cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then move to a wire rack to cool fully for 30 minutes.
Step 4: Assemble the Cake
Trim the top of each layer to flatten.
Spread jam on the bottom layer and place the second layer on top.
Cover the whole cake with chocolate buttercream, saving 2 tablespoons for later.
Step 5: Decorate Minecraft Style
Take a small piece of marzipan and color it red using food coloring.
Dust your surface with confectioners’ sugar and roll out the remaining white marzipan.
Cut into a 9-inch square and place on top of the cake.
Cut strips for the sides, adding square notches like in Minecraft.
Stick the strips to the sides and connect them with the top layer.
Step 6: Finish the Design
Roll out the red marzipan and cut into small red squares.
Stick them on top using the leftover frosting to look like Minecraft blocks.
Recipe Tips
You can replace cherry jam with strawberry jam or even buttercream.
Fondant icing can be used instead of marzipan.
Add Minecraft toppers or Lego Minecraft characters like Steve or Creeper for extra fun.
